THE HOLY DAIMON CYCLE
2018-2021
Creating communion with one’s holy daimon has been the centre of Frater Acher’s practical and theoretical research over the last two decades. As a result of this work, and under the creative and editorial leadership of occult publisher Scarlet Imprint, the Holy Daimon Cycle came to life from 2018 to 2021: A cycle of three books targeted to restore historic rituals and authentic understanding of angelic spirit-communion, as well as to be an aid for the modern day magician on their own journey.
Holy Daimon
Volume 1
Holy Daimon is the result of more than ten years of ritual and theoretical magical research, the book is comprised of three parts: History, Memory and Practice, providing a well-grounded introduction, as well as a practical path to creating communion with one’s holy daimon.
Rather than drawing on Abramelin or Crowley’s Liber Samekh, Frater Acher returns to the source, analysing the daimon as it was experienced in three cultures, Chaldean, Zoroastrian and Ancient Greek.
Acher then gives a full account of his own personal communion with his holy daimon. As a magical record of a modern practitioner it is an important testimony for those embarking on the path, and a rare account given the secrecy within which most practitioners operate.
In the third and final section of the work Acher gives his streamlined exercises for attaining communion with the daimon; culminating in a fully restored rite from the Greek Magical Papyri.
Whilst the author's focus is on enabling hands-on magical work, the book is not a traditional grimoire or ‘grammar of magic,’ as the work is of deeply mystical nature.
Black Abbot · White Magic
Volume 2
Black Abbot · White Magic - Johannes Trithemius and the Angelic Mind is a critical inquiry into the magic of the legendary figure of Pelagius Eremitae, as well as the mind of its alleged student Johannes Trithemius. The diligently researched book shines a stark light on the Black Abbot and his significant impact on Modern Western Magic. Previously often overlooked as a teacher to Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa and historic role model to figures such as John Dee and Paracelsus, Trithemius emerges in his own writings not only as a critical link in the tradition of Western Magic, but as a daring and deeply imaginative innovator.
At its centre the book presents the first full English translations of two angelic grimoires, as well as the restored recipe of a talismanic concoction by Pelagius Eremitae. Through careful analysis of these texts by Frater Acher, the reader is guided towards a historically authentic mystical way of practicing angelic magic.
The book further includes the first English translation of a concise biography by the leading Trithemius-expert Prof. (em.) Dr. Klaus Arnold, as well as an extensive study into Trithemius’ lifelong pursuit of establishing a practical ‘theologia magica’.
The book is completed by three thematic and original paintings by the artist Jose Gabriel Alegría Sabogal.
Holy Heretics
Volume 3
Holy Heretics is the third and final volume of the Holy Daimon cycle. Blending occult philosophy, magic and mysticism, Frater Acher guides the reader through the centuries with a series of practical exercises and rites which ultimately restore the powerful Olympic spirits to their original magical context.
Frater Acher identifies certain techniques of mysticism as a prerequisite for the work of magic, as the often missing element in the development of a serious practice. The advanced magical rites Holy Heretics contains are built from the foundations of simple practical exercises. These are provided and carefully explained. When performed, these rites form a luminous chain for the student who wishes to attain to adepthood and the mastery of empty-handed magic.
